biography
Dr. Nancy R. Mead is a Fellow at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). Mead is also an Adjunct Professor of Software Engineering in the Institute for Software Research at Carnegie Mellon University. She is involved in the study of security requirements engineering and the development of software assurance curricula. She also served as Director of Education for the SEI from 1991 to 1994. Prior to joining the SEI, Mead was a Senior Technical Staff Member at IBM. The Nancy Mead Award for Excellence in Software Engineering Education has been given by the IEEE Conference on Software Engineering Education & Training (CSEET) since 2010. Her research is in software security, software requirements engineering, and software architectures. Mead has more than 150 publications and invited/keynote presentations. She is a Life Fellow of the IEEE, and a Distinguished Educator of the ACM. In 2015 she received the Distinguished Education Award from IEEE Computer Society TCSE.
