The purpose of the vTools Labs Local Group is to provide a forum for IEEE volunteers and staff to discuss, share, and improve volunteer-developed tools and procedures which augment vTools.

• Develop a framework to discuss, share, facilitate, and enhance volunteer-developed programs, spreadsheets, procedures, and other solutions which may be of interest to other volunteers who need to solve similar problems. These solutions typically draw on vTools and OU Analytics reports, APIs, and data streams to solve a problem. It is expected that the framework will provide a repository for volunteers to contribute and version their solutions, and a way for other volunteers to find and download solutions in the repository. However, there is no expectation of ongoing support for those solutions or that those solutions will be compatible with future vTools releases.
• Identify barriers which impede the development of solutions, such as the lack of programmatic access to specific types of data.
• Provide requirements and suggested priorities for addressing those barriers to the vTools committee and MGA-IM staff for consideration. This group may also provide inputs on long-term replacement of interim volunteer-developed solutions with IEEE-supported solutions when that appears to be desirable.
