Biography
Aristides (S'00–M'02–SM'15) was born in Heraklion, Greece. He received a BEng in Electronics Engineering from the Technological Education Institute of Crete (1999), a Diploma in Communications, Control and DSP from the University of Strathclyde (2000) and a PhD in Electrical Power Engineering from the University of Edinburgh (2005). From 2004 to 2007 he was a Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, looking at modelling, control and integration of marine renewables. In 2007 he became Assistant Professor at the Dept. of Electrical Engineering of TEI Crete, teaching Power Systems and Industrial Control. In 2010 he returned to the University of Edinburgh, where he currently holds the post of Lecturer in Power Systems. He is an investigator in several UK and European research projects. He has published more than 30 papers in the areas of power system modeling and control, distributed generation, renewables, energy efficiency, smart grids and demand side management.
