Biography
Vincenzo PIURI is 2023-24 IEEE Region 8 Director. He is Full Professor at the University of Milan, Italy (since 2000). He has been Visiting Professor at the University of Texas at Austin and visiting researcher at George Mason University, USA. His main research and industrial application interests are: artificial intelligence, intelligent systems, computational intelligence, pattern analysis and recognition, machine learning, signal and image processing, biometrics, intelligent measurement systems, industrial applications, distributed processing systems, internet-of-things, cloud computing, fault tolerance, application-specific digital processing architectures, and arithmetic architectures. Original results have been published in more than 400 papers in international journals, proceedings of international conferences, and book chapters. He is IEEE Fellow, ACM Distinguished Scientist, and INNS Senior Member.
