Prof. Omar Hanafy Abdalla (Fellow ESE, Life Senior Member IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree, University of Liverpool, UK, 1979. Since B.Sc. graduation in 1967, he has been appointed in various university positions including: Head of Dept. of Electrical Power and Machines Engineering 1987, Vice-Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research 1997, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering 2002-2005, and Professor Emeritus 2005-Now. He published over 180 papers, supervised over 30 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. He was a Member of Board of Directors of the South Cairo Electricity Comp. (2004-2007) and Vice-President of the Egyptian Institute of Electrical Engineers. He received the Prize of State in Engineering Sciences, 1984, the First Class Medal of Sciences and Arts, 1985, and Helwan University Prize in Engineering Sciences and Technology 2006/2007. From January 2007 to February 2014, he worked "System Studies Advisor" with Oman Electricity Transmission Company, Sultanate of Oman.
