Biography
Muhammad Zeeshan Shakir is a Professor of Wireless Communication at the University of the West of Scotland and Director of the UWS Digital Connectivity and Innovation for Sustainable Futures. With 20+ years of experience, he has secured nearly £9 million in research funding from organizations like Innovate UK and the UK Government. His research focuses on 5G/6G, IoT, and AI, and he has published over 200 articles and contributed to 10 books. Prof. Shakir has earned numerous awards, including Innovate UK's Award of Excellence (2023, 2018) and the IEEE Fred W. Ellersick Award (2021). He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Senior IEEE Member, and active in academic leadership, serving as Executive Chair for IEEE ICC 2026 and other key roles.
