Biography
Mark Smith is a Maker, an IT Architect by trade, on a quest: uniting his long-term interest in Tech-for-Good with a belief in the right to Adequate Healthcare for All. Mark started his professional career as an Electrical Engineer at Duke University and Duke University Hospitals then moved to BD Research Labs. After graduate school in Electrical Engineering at Virginia Tech and Cornell University, he held Computer Engineering and Lead IT Architect positions for 30+ years, most of it at IBM. Mark has also been a Data Health Architect at IntraHealth International before a stint in Punjab State, India as a Light EV Tech Trainer. Mark has been an electric vehicle tinkerer since middle school and has built, repaired, and purchased dozens of electric bicycles and cars including an Organic Transit ELF, Smart Electric Drive, and plug-in Chevy Bolt.
