Biography
Jeff Hamilton is an independent consultant actively involved in the development of Digital TV systems since 1983. He was principal architect, author and proponent of the 64/256-QAM Cable Transmission Standard (ITU J.83B and ANSI/SCTE 07) which delivers almost all video and IP data on cable systems. He made a significant contribution to establishing AC-3 as the world-wide standard for audio. As a member of the Moving Picture Experts Group he helped create the MPEG-2 Systems standard, the transport backbone for TV broadcasting, digital cable, and direct broadcast satellite. Jeff is an active member of ATSC, IEEE and SCTE where he chairs two Digital Video Working Groups. He holds a Masters in Electrical Engineering (Yale University), a Bachelors degree in Physics (Connecticut College) and 12 patents in the field of DTV.
