Jan Van Der Spiegel
Biography
Jan Van der Spiegel (Life Fellow) is Professor of the Electrical and Systems Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania and former Associate Dean for Professional Programs of the School of Engineering, and the former chair of the Electrical Engineering and Systems Engineering. He received his Master's degree and his Ph.D. degree in EE from the University of Leuven, Belgium. He was a senior visiting Professor at Tsinghua University (2018). His research interests are in mixed-mode VLSI design, CMOS vision sensors, and brain-machine-interfaces. He is the recipient of the 2007 EAB Major Educational Innovation Award, received the IEEE Third Millennium Medal. He is associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems, is on the Editorial Board of the IEEE Proceedings and is Section Editor of the Journal of Engineering of the IET. He served as the 2016-2017 President of the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society. He is the current Conference Chair of the IEEE ISSCC.
