Biography
Frank C Langbein is a lecturer in computer science and a member of the Geometric Computing and Computer Vision research group at Cardiff University. He received a PhD from Cardiff University in 2003 for a thesis on beautification of reverse engineered geometric models and a diploma (MSc) in mathematics from Stuttgart University in 1998. His research interests lie in the areas of computational modelling, applied geometry and visual computing, aimed at science and engineering applications especially in quantum and nano technology, mechanical engineering and life sciences. He is working on point-based modelling for sampling, rendering and simulation in graphics, physics, biology and engineering. Furthermore, he is working on modelling, simulating and controlling quantum devices. His work in reverse engineering geometric models contributed novel concepts and algorithms for beautification, design intent detection and approximate symmetries.
