Dr. David Oyedokun

Biography
David Oyedokun, a recent recipient of the IEEE MGA Gold Award and the EBE Faculty special award for social responsiveness at the University of Cape Town (UCT). In 2006, he was Secretary General of the Engineering and Built Environment Student Council at the same university and also a student member of the Faculty board. He obtained a Bsc (Elec Eng) degree in 2007 and an MSc degree in 2010 both from UCT. He is currently pursuing a PhD degree in power systems at UCT. He is currently the Secretary of the South Africa Section of the IEEE. Over the years, he has volunteered in many roles including IEEE PUW, IEEE Young Professionals South Africa section: Southern region, IEEE SIGHT Steering committee member, EPICS-in-IEEE committee and led a number EPICS-in-IEEE projects in South Africa. David has a passion for community based outreach projects .His research interest is in Power transformers, stability, transmission systems and geomagnetically induced currents (GICs).
