I am currently a Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Military Institute from which I retired in 2020. My past professional experience includes work as a computer design engineer at IBM Endicott Labs where I was a member of a design team that developed two models of the IBM PC, as an Asst. Prof. of ECE at Old Dominion University, and as a Professor and Dept. Chair of EE and EET at Virginia Western Community College. My primary research and consulting interests include computational intelligence, robotics, and embedded systems. I am particularly interested in applications of neural networks, neuro-fuzzy systems, and evolutionary computing to a wide range of problems. I've been a member of the Hampton Roads and Virginia Mountain Sections of the IEEE. I've served one term as Sec./Treas., one term as Vice Chair, and three terms as Chair of the Virginia Mountain Section.
