Tony Durniak is an independent observer of media trends. Until he retired in August 2015 he was Staff Executive for Publications at IEEE. Specific responsibilities included management of IEEE Spectrum, and the IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Before Joining IEEE in July 1998 he spent 7 years at the American Chemical Society’s Publications Division in Washington DC, where he lead the electronic publishing team that put all 26 of the ACS journals up on the Web. Prior experience included 12 years at McGraw Hill Companies where he held several positions. He began his career as a science journalist, working as a reporter and editor at Electronic News, Electronics Magazine, and Business Week. Tony has an EE Degree from CCNY and a Masters Degree in Journalism from Columbia Univ.
