A recent post noted that President Biden's AI concerns were fueled by a Mission Impossible movie night.  We have long recognized that science fiction plays a role in shaping our technology development directions.  In this case, it seems to have helped shape tech policy as well. Has science fiction become too influential in setting tech directions?
