What is technology's best failure? (yes, you read that correct, failure!)

One of Apple's best failure was the Lisa and yet out of that failure came a GUI, mouse, and software that great influenced the Macintosh. 

Often times it is our failures that lead to the greatest innovations. Comment on what you think are the greatest technology failures and how did they lead to sparking or influences the best in technology.
