How much credence should we give to the proclamations of tech titans?

We often see articles sharing the opinions and predictions of tech titans - and we often read them as we seek insight into the future. But ... those tech titans often have business interests in our behavior. Following their guidance may lead to greater personal profits for them.  How much credence should we give to the proclamations of tech titans?  Why?
