Tests of a planet cooling scheme could begin soon. Do their benefits outweigh their dangers?

IEEE Spectrum recently noted that a Test of Planet-Cooling Scheme Could Start in 2022 which would spray reflective particles into the atmosphere. The article noted that the tests were controversial. They might damage the atmosphere and they might distract us from addressing the core problem of excessive greenhouse gasses. Do you support them?
  • Yes. The world will continue to generate greenhouse gasses. New technology is our only hope to lessen its damage to the climate.
  • Yes.  I hope the IEEE will get involved in such efforts.
  • No.  This is a diversion from the need to address greenhouse gasses.
  • No.  If this test damages the atmosphere, who will clean it up?
  • No.  Climate change is an exaggerated problem.  This offers more risk than reward.
