Call for Nominations for IEEE TechEthics Ad Hoc Committee
On behalf of Fred Schindler, Vice President - TAB, individuals are invited to submit a nomination to fill open positions to serve as a voting member on the IEEE TechEthics Ad Hoc Committee. The service term starts on 1 March 2024 and ends 31 December 2024.
The principal mission of the IEEE TechEthics Ad Hoc Committee is to develop a future direction for IEEE TechEthics (https://techethics.ieee.org/about/), an institute-wide program focused on establishing and reinforcing IEEE's role as a leader in the ethical and societal impacts of technology. The committee will review current and future issues being addressed by the program and develop an ongoing TechEthics structure within IEEE.
Our objective is to have a diverse committee membership. This includes a diversity of background and perspectives, including: current and emerging technologies; ethical and societal implications of technology; TAB, S/C and IEEE operations; and strategic planning. With respect to time commitment, it is anticipated that the ad hoc will hold monthly, remote, one-hour meetings, with additional online discussion between meetings.
Send a completed nomination via this online form (https://bit.ly/TechEthicsAdHoc) by Saturday, 24 February 2024. Self-nominations are encouraged.
You may also send any questions and comments to Mark A. Vasquez, Sr. Strategic Program Manager, IEEE TechEthics (m.vasquez@ieee.org).
